The Problem

The homeowner reported slow-draining fixtures and intermittent sewer blockages. Investigation revealed tree roots had penetrated the drain through small openings in the pipe, gradually forming a dense root mass that trapped waste and restricted water flow.

The Solution

A CCTV drain camera inspection was carried out to identify the exact location and extent of the root intrusion. Once confirmed, a high-powered drain cleaning machine fitted with a root-cutting head was used to remove the roots and restore the pipe to full internal diameter. The drain was then re-inspected to ensure the obstruction had been completely cleared and to assess the condition of the pipe for any future repairs.

Equipment Used

CCTV drain inspection camera, electric drain cleaning machine with root-cutting head, pipe locator, and high-pressure water jetter.

The Outcome

The drain was successfully cleared with wastewater flowing freely again. The CCTV inspection confirmed the obstruction had been removed, allowing the customer to continue using the drainage system immediately. Recommendations were provided regarding future maintenance and permanent repair options should root intrusion return.
